This impressive Grade II Listed six bedroomed country residence is believed to date in part from the early 17th Century. Arranged over four floors to include an attic and a cellar, this gentry home with three reception rooms and a master bedroom suite sits in grounds of about 3.8 acres to include a pony paddock, natural ponds, a garage complex and large stone barn and enjoys splendid far reaching countryside views across Llanover and the Vale of Usk towards the majestic Blorenge in the distance. Despite its rural setting, this family home is within three miles of the popular market town of Abergavenny, on the fringe of the Brecon Beacons National Park with a great wealth of sporting and country pursuits all close-by. Constructed from local red sandstone rubble, there are indications of re-building and alterations during its long history. According to the Cadw Listing record, at the start of the 17th Century, the residence was a rather more humble two room plan, gable entry house which was re-built at some stage in the same century into a heightened symmetrical house with central entry. The property was further substantially adapted in the 20th Century with the addition of a two storey wing and a single storey rear extension and is now partly rendered under a natural slate to the roof of the house with stone slate above the bays and the gabled porch. Although requiring improvement and updating, this substantial home has retained many historical features including ceiling beams with chamfered-stops, stone flagged and exposed wooden flooring, latched doors and strap hinges with tulip cusps, sash windows, original doors, a fine vaulted cellar, and an impressive stone fireplace in the main reception room.
