First Minister Mark Drakeford has announced today that the Welsh Government will impose a two-week fire-break which will require Welsh residents to stay at home from 6pm on Friday 23 October until Monday 9 November. As part of the announcement, we are advised that Estate Agency offices must close and our team will therefore work from home wherever possible.
The announcement stated that home moves can still take place during this period if the moving date can't be delayed until after the short lockdown period is over. Associated activities, for example, removals processes, property preparation, handover of keys, surveys and valuations can also take place in line with guidance on working in other people’s homes. Surveyors can not enter occupied properties during the lockdown period. Surveys of vacant properties and those surveying the outside of a property can take place.
Property viewings can not take place during the fire-break period and so we will be utilising our Smart Viewing platform to show buyers around properties virtually.
In terms of our rental properties, maintenance work can only take place in an occupied property if it is urgent or to repair a fault which poses a direct risk to people’s safety – for example, emergency plumbing or to carry out an adaptation to allow that household to remain in their property. Work can take place where a property is vacant.
We learnt a lot during the last lockdown and have adapted best practice to enable us to continue a broad range of virtual services including VIRTUAL VALUATIONS. We have embraced up to date technology and all of our systems including our phones and IT equipment are all now cloud based.
