For those seeking long walks, there are pathways leading to the River Usk and the Monmouthshire & Brecon Canal as well as to the summits of the Black Mountains that surround this historic town. There are several parks in the vicinity including Bailey Park, Linda Vista Gardens, Swan Meadows and Castle Meadows to name but a view.
Abergavenny railway station has direct routes to Cardiff, West Wales, Hereford and Manchester; and connections via Newport to Bristol and London. Road links on the Eastern side of the town give access to Raglan and the Heads of the Valleys road, plus “A” routes to Cardiff, Newport plus further afield to the M4 linking Bristol, west Wales and the Midlands. The A40 which dissects the town provides access to Brecon and mid-Wales.
